Just a week to go and SO much to do! We are busy preparing the leavers assembly which will be at 9.15 on Friday morning. The De'ferrers children will be at their new school on Tuesday and will miss the talent contest in the afternoon. However, it is more important for them to be visiting their new teachers and meeting new pupils.
On Wednesday children are invited to bring their parents into school to see their work. Luckily Mrs Bell did not put the work out for parent consultations. This means books can be seen and then packed away.
The Year 6 staff are hoping we can fit in another party - we have done well for parties this year. On Friday the 10th we had a mini birthday party for Mrs Bell, Misha and Fatima as they all had a birthday in the week. Mrs Bell was thrilled with the photo frame the class made with Mrs Lerigo. The photograph is so natural - it will remind Mrs Bell of all the children she taught in her first every year 6. She's had a wonderful year, and so have Miss Akhtar, Mrs Annett and Mrs Lerigo.

MEDIA CHALLENGE
July the 9th and we were all ready for the BIG DAY! The school bought a special video, we borrowed a digital recorder from 4A and Mr Rees raced around preparing the children - they needed to know how to use the Video as well as edit it. Mrs Bell read the instructions on using the recorder and Mrs Annett wrote down instrcutions to help the group.
This sounded manageable, BUT we had the Y6 play to put on as well! It was a good job Miss Akhtar was in charge of that. She has done a brilliant job, organising the children and teaching them the roles, organising adults to help with scenery and props and also involving Mr Chapman with the singing. The 3 performances were superb, with the final one for the parents being the BEST! Well done, everyone one.
Now back to the Media Challenge. Mrs Annett and Mrs Bell took the children in their cars, along with the resources. We even had to take the printer with us (Mrs Fearn was happy for us to borrow hers). When we got to MOD, first we had to sign in at Reception and pick up the badges and car labels. Then we went to the Hub where we set up our resources. After the briefing, it was full action..........
Everyone ran towards a building from which a robber was seen leaving. Suddenly a loud BANG made us jump! A car had crashed, there was smoke everywhere, and fire sirens ringing loudly. People ran towards the crash and started filming, taking photos and taping information. It was very exciting to see an ambulance arriving to help the injured people. The police managed to capture the robbers and took him away.
Once we had gathered all the information, children went to produce reports - radio, T.V and newspaper. The group (Asra, Anum, Hannah, Dhanyal, Hassan and Hussnae) worked well. It was disappointing to find that the digital video did not work effectively. But the group improvised and coped. The radio report was soon ready, and the newspaper was looking good by lunchtime.
At lunchtime, Mrs Annett and Mrs Bell had a quiet time in the recreational area. Mrs Annett produced a birthday cake for Mrs Bell (how lovely) and we all had a wonderful piece. Yum, what a great day for Mrs Bell. After that Mrs Bell disappeared again - she found INTERNET and wrote on the Blog!

SNOW WHITE!
This week has been the week of the Y6 productions. Monday began with the first performance to Key Stage 1. Everything went really well, singing was amazing. we just need to remain loud throughout the whole play next time.
On Tuesday Mrs Lerigo came along with the Y2 from Newhall (her other school) to watch the play. Mr Loftus, who taught many of the Year 6 in Year 2 (he is now the headteacher at Newhall) came too. He said, he couldn't miss the opportunity to see Victoria again. The show went well, more children had face make up today.
However, the afternoon was just FANTASTIC! The children had saved the best till last - everything was just perfect for the parents (so many came, we were impressed) and Key Stage 2. Mrs Fearn and Mr Chapman said it was the best performance they have seen at Victoria. Mrs Bell thanked Miss Akhtar for doing so much of the work . Miss Akhtar insisted it was team work and showed her appreciation to Mr Chapman for music and singing, Mrs Lerigo for the art work, Mrs Annett for the costumes and Mrs Bell for letting her have the class.
An excellent play, Year 6. Very well done!
